Warming up a chilly January

Strelizia are in season again. Named for George III’s consort Charlotte Mecklenburg-Streliz, and often known as Bird of Paradise flowers, these exotic blooms are spectacular in colour and form. Large with stiff, straight stems as thick as broom handles sometimes, these are difficult to work with but can produce very dramatic designs. It’s hard to resist them at our wholesaler and here they have been teamed with protea and lime green chrysanths in an exotic looking arrangement which adds a touch of warmth to these chilly post-Christmas days.
